Despite the intermittent rain, the crowd does not seem to be letting up. As of 10.30pm, the Esplanade promenade and Jubilee Bridge are completely packed. Thousands of revellers continue spilling into the various venues, with many taking shelter under umbrellas and ponchos under the drizzle.
“I used to watch the fireworks from home but this year, I want to experience it live,” said 14-year-old Daryl Ng, who came with colourful light sticks around his neck and arms. “It’s a time to celebrate with my family. And going into the new year, it reminds me that family is important,” he added, as he waits patiently for the first burst of fireworks with his parents and sister
